Review:

All the books in the Rogue Files are standalone, but really, it helps to have read the first books in the series to get a bit of background.

So let’s get started on this review.

I won’t lie; I think that this book was my favourite of the series so far. It was quite different from what I had read so far and I found it quite refreshing.

Clara has run to her brother’s estate in Scotland after the scandal she created with her lie; a fake pregnancy. Her reputation ruined, she has accepted her fate that she will end her life alone but she hadn’t counted on her meeting with Hunt, a man who will turn up in her life more often that she had first presume upon meeting him.

Hunt had never expected to be so intrigued by some woman. He was content with his life though he can’t deny the want of an heir but the curse stops him to pursue that dream. But upon hearing about Clara’s pregnancy, it comes to him that this was exactly what he needed; an heir without needing to go through his family’s curse.

After some convincing, Clara accepts his proposal without telling him the truth about her, but following this deception, their future is no longer certain. They are both feisty people and their arguments can be quite entertaining. Also the two of them have easily adapted themselves to their situation not knowing which of them would end up being right.

The chemistry between the two of them is hard to miss and as they navigate towards their uncertain future, both of them are giving a second chance that neither of them ever thought was in their cards.

I don’t read many historical romances beside Sophie Jordan’s so I don’t know if adding curses to this book is often done, but I think it added to the story a lot.

I’m trying to be evasive because I feel like I’m already spoiling this book, but hopefully not. So much happens between the first page and the last that you just get hooked into the book and you can hardly stop to do something else.

I’m really looking forward for the next book because I think that it’s going to be quite interesting too. I loved the character Sophie has chosen for her next book and I’m so intrigued about what story she has given her.

Review:

All the books in the Rogue Files are standalone, but really, it helps to have read the first two books in the series to get a bit of background.

That said, let's start with the review.

I was quite happy that Marcus was getting his book because if someone needed a good kick in the butt to finally gain more maturity and understanding it was him and nothing does it better than finding love.

Marcus is still trying to get away from his family, trying to cope with what he believes to be a betrayal from his best friend and stepmother. This journey leads him to Collie-Ben, a small village, where he witnesses something he didn't expect, a wife auction. He is disgust by this practice that seems to be more entertainment for the villagers.

Without thinking, he ends up buying the lass hoping to end this horrible wife auction.

Alyse thought she had all of her future planned out. Her best friend would come for her and then would leave this village and go to London like they both talked when they were younger, but when the young man doesn’t show as promise, her world crumbles and she has no idea who will end up purchasing her. But she refuses to show it and she’s ready to bind her time until she can finally leave the village and go fetch that dream of hers.

As they both leave the village to head to one of Marcus’ mansions, the chemistry between them is slowly increasing as events bring them closer together. Both of them refuse to admit it even if they both have weak moments where they let themselves slowly appreciate each other’s company.

Marcus can’t help but admire how resilient Alyse is and she is learning that Marcus has a lot more to show to the world than he lets on. As they both try to keep their distances, they will both learn that sometimes, what you always thought you wanted, might not have been what they actually needed.

What I liked most about Alyse was that she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind most of the time and she wasn’t one to simply lay down and cry when things didn’t go as planned. She has a strong personality and she was ready to rethink of new ways to get where she wanted to.

Marcus is far from being a typical gentleman, but he has a sense of loyalty that you can’t fault him. Even when he could have left her to her demise like she often offered him, he was set onto making sure she would be protected at all cost. He saw her as his responsibility but you could tell that he saw more into her than he wanted to admit.

I really enjoyed this book. I wouldn’t say it was my favourite of the series, but it was still a good read and I enjoyed getting back into this series.

I’m looking forward to the next book because you know that Sophie Jordan will give us another story that will keep us on our toes.

Review:

I was really looking forward to this one because I really wanted these two characters to have their own book. Sophie Jordan brought us a story about a taboo relationship between the Duchess of Autenberry and Lord Strickland and made us want more.

Gacriela was a character that I really liked in the previous book because she was just so open-minded and had such a big heart for the people around her. Her daughter and her family are everything for her and she always try to put them before her no matter what. She also has a lot of character and has dealt through the year with people judging her for her roots.

In this book, she follows her friend's suggestion and I feel like it might be the first time she actually does something for herself as she follows her friend to Sodom. Taking a lover seemed like a good idea, but the experience at the club wasn't what she expected. As she finds herself alone at the club, she is cornered and she fears of what might happens when she is saved by the one man she shouldn't even feel attracted to, her stepson's best friend, Colin.

Colin is like any man in these books which means he enjoys the women's company a lot. Along with Graciela, he was a character I just liked because he was simply a good guy. He was easy going and you could tell from the previous book that he was also attracted to the Duchess. We learn more about his family in this book, especially his grandmother, who is really a hard lady who is really narrow-minded if you ask me.

As she finally surrenders to her desire and let Colin into her bed for one night, Graciela wasn't expecting what that one night was going to do for her future. She tries to deal with the aftermath alone even though she confides in her friend, but it's not an easy situation.

As Colin tries to pursue what they both started, more drama comes and complicates their little encounter. This will lead to a few misunderstandings for the two main characters as they try to deal with their situation.

This book was quite interesting and I really liked how Sophie approached the subject about this book. I'm really looking forward to reading the next book because the ending really got me curious about what could be written in the next one. So be sure to pick up the latest book by Sophie Jordan in her Rogue Files.
